1.0 out of 5 stars Won't work in hard water, per Method customer service, August 15, 2006

It did NOT WORK! Electrosol works like a dream, but I wanted to use Method.

It did not dissolve completely during the wash cycle, even when I tried setting for extended cycle. It left a film during the rinse cycle and did not get food residue off the dishes. Coffee cups, other dishes and flatware that glisten with my usual product were filthy with Method. I own a top of the line dish washer; doing dishes for 8 people.

I double-checked for personal "user" errors: Water temp is appropriate, per manufacturer recommendation. I rinse off the solid food debris. Cycle length appropriate for dish dirt level. Filter is clean. I got a rinse agent to see if that would improve the outcome.

I used 16 tabs within about 2 weeks--I tried different cycles,pre-washing and turning up the water temp a tad--nothing helped.

I called Method Customer Service; they apologized; said they discover the product does not work in hard water areas. (We get Lake Michigan... Read more

I think I gave the product four stars after one or two loads of dishes, which were mostly plates and pots. I never expected it to work as well as traditional detergents, so I made adjustments like rinsing my dishes extra, extra well and switching to the normal cycle. I realized that what worked best was two cubes in the light cycle. After having to use twice as much product to wash glasses and silverware, I realized it wasn't me -- it was the product. As the previous reviewer noted, the cubes just don't work well in hard water. I can't wait to get through the last of the cubes so I can switch back to Cascade. Since I have to use two per light wash sycle, it shouldn't take me long.

I have used these for months and have never had one problem. I put everything in my dishwasher and some with dried on gunk and they always come clean. I don't know why others have problems, but i do not.
