4.0 out of 5 stars Does not last, April 11, 2007

I usually love Oxo products. However, I find this one highly frustrating. The dish brush would be great except for 2 problems. The rubber button you push often develops a split. This makes it lose the pressure to dispense the soap. I have replaced the brush several times due to this. This could be due to the fact the the soap doesn't often seem to dispense unless the reservior is nearly full and you keep pushing harder hoping it will work. Either this or else it has already developed an unseen split in the rubber. It is a very handy scrub brush but not that cheap to keep replancing.
Update: Latest dish brush experience. The last time I purchased this brush I tried to just push lightly on the brush to dispense the soap. This last one has lasted longer doing this. In order to not fill up the handle with dish soap all the time, I tried opening the rubber stopper to let air in and then pressing on it to dispense the soap. A little nuisense but it seems to work. The rubber stopper... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Should be called "the non-stop soap dripping dish brush", December 25, 2007

This item is well-constructed and works fine as a simple scrub tool, but the self-dispensing function - for which I purchased it- is a dismal flop. It leaks non-stop. I can't even put any soap in it. When there is soap in it, it comes out through the pressure stop on the side of the handle - and not through the end of the brush. I'll keep it anyway for overall utility, but don't buy this if you think it will be an efficiency saver as a self-soaping tool. I've spent more time cleaning up soap messes from the leaks than I could have ever thought possible.

Revised after two months:
Unfortunately, while these units now last longer, they button still cracks after a couple of months of use. I'm going to try and find another dish brush.

Original review:
I have been using this product for roughly four years. As you can read from several of the reviews it works great, but had a design flaw: The rubber button would crack and leak soap. I still bought it over and over again because it was just great and pretty cheap to replace the body. The removable brushes and sponges all seem to last a reasonable time.

The great news is that they have changed the design so that soap is now poured in through the black portion of the handle, which screws on/off. The button is now made with a better rubber and looks like it will last forever. I'm glad I stuck with OXO, they have made me doubly satisfied.
