I say this is probably true, given how safe it is for the bits of the environment that are stuck to my plates. You can also easily overflow your dishwasher with suds if you use too much. I experimented with various amounts and couldn't find an amount that equated to getting my dishes clean, though I did find some amounts that equated to getting suds on my floor. Overall, I want to do my part for the environment but I REALLY want clean dishes too. I have to get through this case and then I'll be looking for something that works better. It works well for me. My dishes are clean, no film (though I do use Ecover rinse aid). I do pre-rinse my dishes, but I don't, by any means, scrub them prior to putting them in the dishwasher. I have never over-flowed the washer with suds. I like the lavender smell that fills my kitchen and lingers, mildly, on my dishes for a brief period of time. I live in the SW part of the Country so maybe the hard water has something to do with the quality of cleanliness different people get from this product. If you can find it locally pick up a bottle and give it a try before buying a whole case. But for me, I really like it! This is the only product I have found that does not cause us to break out in a rash and it does a terrific job of cleaning our clothes. It dissolves quickly and cleans effectively. We have been using this product for around six months now and have not noticed any wash related wear or fading of our clothing. The price is also extremely reasonable compared to what we were paying for other 'sensitive' products. I can highly recommend this product. BUT if you buy the powder and have hard water make darn sure you dissolve all of the detergent before putting your clothes in the washer or you will be very unhappy with the white "STAINS" on your clothes and NO it does no come out. We have 3 boxes of this detergent left and I am happy to take the time to dissolve it but we are going to start getting the Seventh generation liquid detergent to save a bit of time! I use it on white loads, and light-colored loads. For dark loads, I use Seventh Generation liquid detergent without bleach. To get my white loads as white or whiter than when I used to use chemical laundry detergent with harsh chlorine bleach, I do the following, and it makes even the nastiest white socks come out white as snow: Start the load with hot water, add this detergent, a cup of baking soda, and Seventh Generation non-chlorine bleach. (Filling the washer with detergent and 3 inches of water first makes all laundry detergent work better...) Once washer has 3 inches of water, add socks and dirtiest whites first. (Note: I also spray the nastiest socks and laundry with home-made stain spray--1 part water, 1 part ammonia, 1 part Seventh Generation liquid laundry detergent.) Once the nastiest clothes are submerged, add the rest of the white load while washer is still filling. Once filled, let the washer agitate for 5 minutes or so... I sometimes had a few drops of Dr.Brenners (sp?) peppermint to give it a slight scent as that is one of the very very very few scents that doesnt kill my sinuses, give me a rash, etc. ---------------- Overall, it is a pretty good dishwashing liquid. It doesnt give me dishpan hands and it smells neutral, I never notice anything. I have many many many allergies to common stuff, so it was nice to find something that I could use and not sneeze or get a rash. All the "natural" Ivory, etc. soaps are just another name for a new smell that sounds better but still makes me allergic but costs more. It is a little odd, but I use this as a shampoo as well. I am allergic to every shampoo I've tried (over 60+) and seen my 4th dermatologist (allergy specialist in NY recently) who was not able to suggest anything else. I use an off the shelf conditioner... Most have, at the very least, masking fragrances. This soap is utterly fragrance free, which is important to me as I am chemically sensitive. It is a marvel, particularly when compared to other 'sensitive' dish soaps, which aren't effective and produce little or no sudsing action. This soap is sudsy and very effective at cleaning dishes. I have not been able to use Dawn and other commercial dish soaps that claim to cut grease so I really cannot make that comparison. But when put head-to-head against other 'sensitive' dish soaps, Seventh Generation is the clear winner (not to mention competitively priced).
