By coincidence I had major repairs done to my dishwasher and changed from my 20-year product, Cascade lemon-scented powder, to this gel product on its return from repair. I was surprised to open the dishwasher - an expensive European brand with a stainless steel interior - after the final rinse and find about 2 inches of suds at the bottom of the tub. So I put it through a rinse-only cycle and checked inside before the dry cycle kicked in - still sudsy! So I started another cycle - still some suds! It took 5 extra rinse cycles before the suds were gone. Thank goodness that before I called the repair people to complain, I researched the internet and learned about the new, phosphate-free formula and all the problems people described having: white or grey deposits, darkened stainless, brown spots on flatware, etched enamel, inefficient cleaning, and even... Read more 11 of 14 people found the following review helpful  GE OWNERS BEWARE, By This review is from: Cascade Complete Gel Dishwasher Detergent, 45-Ounce (Health and Beauty) When Cascade changed from a phosphate formula to a non-phosphate formula (required by law) they neglected to inform customers that: IF YOU MIX THE TWO IN YOUR GE SMART DISPENSE WASHER (EVEN IN SMALL AMOUNTS) IT WILL FORM A HARD GEL AND CLOG YOUR WASHER. Their suggestion to repair people is to REPLACE THE TANK in the door.If you google "cascade complete phosphate formula and phosphate free " you will find a PDF of an internal memo describing the known problem. In my opinion GE should be replacing tanks free of charge since they suggest that this detergent be used and do not inform the consumer about this known MAJOR problem. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  Yikes, look for the ounces., Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Cascade Complete Gel Dishwasher Detergent, 45-Ounce (Health and Beauty) I purchased this as it was a reasonable price, for what I thought was the larger bottle. I didn't realize it was 45oz! That's 1/2 the quantity of what can be purchased anywhere locally (even at the high price stores).I gave it 3 stars as it's a good product, but WAY over priced on Amazon (which is very rare from what I've found). |
